[singlepic id=1720 w=320 h=240 float=left] We adopted our cat Pebbles from you in July and I thought you might be interested in an update on how she’s doing…..
I have attached 2 photos of Pebbles at home. As you can see she enjoys being lazy around the house and is especially keen on sitting on mine or Chris’s knee and being made a fuss of. She is very sweet natured and hasn’t tried to scratch or bite us even once. The only thing that she doesn’t really like is being picked up and held. We do try to play with her every day to give her a bit of stimulation- her favourite toy is a shoelace with a toy mouse tied on the end. That keeps her entertained every time.
After a month inside the house, we let her outside for the first time. Initially she was very curious and explored all around our garden. She was up on the shed roof, the garage roof and climbing a tree all during the first weekend. Since then unfortunately she’s lost a bit of confidence as she’s had a confrontation with another local cat who is much bigger than her. A couple of nights ago this cat chased her and she fled up a tree then couldn’t get down! We spent about 2 hours trying to rescue her which we eventually did with the aid of the cat carrier. Hopefully in time she will start to stand up for herself with the other cats a bit more!
Pebbles has been to the vet a few times already in her short time with us. We initially took her because she was scratching her ears a lot- the vet diagnosed ear mites which we treated with ear drops. She has also had vaccinations for feline leukemia. At her last visit the vet told us that we need to cut down her food as she’s put on weight already. She is not happy about being on a diet as she really enjoys her meals!
We’ve only had Pebbles for 5 weeks but it feels like much longer. We can’t imagine being without her!
Many thanks to Doris who was very helpful in assisting us with choosing a cat to adopt and also to your RSPCA branch in general. Keep up the good work!
